Eco-friendly Chile Enchilada Sauce

Canned green enchilada sauce is simply kind of sad. It’ s watering and usually not very flavorful. Genuine green enchilada sauce is a little slight project, involving roasting fresh tomatillos, onions, garlic, and peppers— not really something I necessarily want to be carrying out in addition to making the rest of dinner on a hectic weeknight. I needed something between. A rich and flavorful green enchilada spices that was still super fast and easy. And so i crafted this super easy Green Chile Enchilada Sauce, based on my Easy Homemade Reddish Enchilada Sauce , but with the green chile base and a somewhat different mix of spices. If you love the red enchilada sauce, I think you’ re going to enjoy this one as much!

What’ s in Eco-friendly Enchilada Sauce?

Eco-friendly enchilada sauce is a mix of roasting peppers, onions, garlic, tomatillos, plus spices. If you want to try an authentic formula, give this Green Enchilada Sauce from Isabel Eats a shot. But as I described in the intro, I was looking for comfort without sacrificing a lot of flavor. So I exchanged the fresh roasted peppers, onions, plus garlic for canned green chiles and dried spices. I also put in a little oil and flour pertaining to thickening power. On days after i have time to cook for fun, I’ ll probably make my enchilada sauce the real way, but this particular quick version will be my first most of the time!

Is This Spices Spicy?

It  can be. Refined green chiles can vary in temperature level. The canned diced green chiles We purchased from Kroger were totally mild, but depending on the brand, they might have a little heat. If you  want in making your green enchilada sauce hot and spicy, you can always add a pinch or 2 of cayenne pepper.

How can you Use Green Chile Enchilada Spices?

Enchilada is great for a lot more than just enchiladas (try my Green Chile Poultry Enchiladas )! It’ h also great for:

  • Combining with eggs, tortilla potato chips, and cheese for chilaquiles or migas
  • Drizzled over tacos
  • Stirred into sour lotion for a creamy-tangy chip dip
  • Smothering burritos
  • Mixed into mayo to use as the green chile coleslaw dressing

Can I Skip the particular Flour?

Yes, if you want to make this sauce gluten-free, you can omit the flour. The flour-oil combination does help thicken the sauce, yet you’ ll still have a beautifully flavorful sauce without it, simply slightly less viscous.
