These are the canned green chiles that I used as the base with this sauce. Some brands are hot and spicy, some are mild (the type I used are mild).
Add two 4oz. cans associated with green chiles to a blender (with all the liquid in the can) plus puré e them until soft.
Add 2 Tbsp cooking oil, 2 Tbsp multi-purpose flour, 1 tsp ground cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, plus 1/4 tsp onion powder to some small sauce pot.
Cook and mix the oil, flour, and spices or herbs over medium heat until they start to simmer and bubble. Continue to prepare and stir for about one minute in order to toast the flour and spices or herbs.
